Carlos Tevez scored on his Serie A debut as reigning Italian champions Juventus beat 10-man Sampdoria 1-0. The former Manchester City striker tapped home from Paul Pogba's cross just before the hour. Sampdoria, who failed to create any chances of note, had substitute Paolo Castellini sent off late on for a foul on Stephan Lichtsteiner. Meanwhile, Luca Toni struck twice on his debut to help Hellas Verona beat AC Milan 2-1.
